Personal

With a staff dedicated to providing loving, kindhearted and patient daily assistance to each of its residents, Southwest Retirement Home takes pride in its one-on-one approach to assisted living, made possible by its very low patient to staff ratio. "We are more personalized," says the administrator, emphasizing that residents receive a high level of care focused on their individual needs and interests.

Lots To Do, Places To Go

Even though daily life on the grounds of Southwest Retirement Home is filled with personalized activities residents can enjoy on their own schedule and at their own pace, individually or in a group, they are also free to spend their time quietly.
When they wish to explore nearby shopping centers or participate in com-munity activities, transportation is pro-vided. Residents are also transported to their medical appointments at private medical offices or at UF Health Shands Hospital, the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center or the North Florida Regional Hospital UF Health Cancer Center, all conveniently located just a few minutes away. A "house doctor" is also available onsite for those who choose the convenience of this option for general care, lab work, X-rays, and emergencies.

Trusted

While Southwest Retirement Home in Gainesville has operated as an assisted living facility since December 1985, institutional surroundings and pressures are nowhere to be seen. Here, residents are able to enjoy the comfort, care, and safety of a relaxing home setting where they know that they will be embraced by a welcoming, warm, responsive and loving experience every day.

Family

Families can be worry free, knowing that their loved ones are in a safe place, are clean and comfortable, are well fed, and are cared for in an environment supportive of mind and body. At the same time, residents can settle into a life of familiarity and security, never feeling that they are away from their own home.

Contact Us Today

This family-centered approach begins the moment a new resident arrives. "When we are admitting a resident, we are admitting a family, too," explains the owner. "We include family members in the care of their loved one, teaching them safe procedures and sharing ideas. We also invite them to join us for our annual resident and family Portrait Day and to attend special occasions here with their loved one such as birthdays, which we all celebrate like a family, and Christmas, when carolers bring us traditional music to brighten the festivities."

We treat our residents like family, and we really care for them
